I love that you pointed out thematic consistency here. It’s an issue that comes up a lot for me with random tables, and when they have thematic consistency it’s so much easier to roll with (haha).
Inspiration from tables is what drives me the most to use one. If a table is just a number of disparate things with little to go off of, I'd be better off coming up with something myself most of the time!
Agree. Consistency and clear purpose are probably the biggest ones for me. I'd rather have a bunch of smaller, targeted tables than one giant, broad one.
